“A MAN WHO WORKS WITH HIS HANDS IS A LABORER; A MAN WHO WORKS WITH HIS HANDS AND HIS BRAIN IS A CRAFTSMAN; BUT A MAN WHO WORKS WITH HIS HANDS AND HIS BRAIN AND HIS HEART IS AN ARTIST.” – Louis Nizer
My most recent adventure in creativity is a deep dive into the fascinating art of blacksmithing and bladesmithing. I think my desire to learn this craft began while watching old westerns that all seemed to have a blacksmith or farrier who was always beating wrought iron into submission as he molded it into amazing creations. Or maybe it’s because I was a kid and playing with fire was exciting…
At this point, I am in the start-up phase of designing and dialing in my propane burner, building the forge, and collecting the various tools I will need.
