Rails 3: Polymorphic liking of Entities by User, how?

Just in case you are trying to implement Facebook style ‘Liking’ to your Rails application from scratch here is how I did it as well as how other StackOverflow users would tackle the issues as well using a Polymorphic Data Model in Rails 3
